IT'S TOMORROW -- And A Happy Love Day To You [Part 2]

I LOVE LOVE - AHHHHHHH. nothing makes you content like the love of someone you love. sometimes i just stare at Mr Glitter, smile and purr like a kitten. not a bad effort considering we have been together for almost 17years.
it's no wonder i get so excited about Love Day ... all my pressies for my specials were sent out yesterday.our local little post office must love me. they were all looking pretty cute i must say. here's alittle sneaky preview...
a few of my fave things - glitter, spray glue, gold paint, paper heart doilies and candy hearts.
Confession time. Mr Glitter and my goodself won't be heading out to dinner tomorrow night because i have to get 2 fillings. i'm quite shattered really. when the appointment was made, the receptionist said
'' ok so you're all  booked in for the 14th .'' i looked at her in total disbelief and replied
'' but that's Valentines Day.'' she looked at me like i requested her left kidney on a plate. clearly not a romantic. so dinner has been booked for another night [lest i be a numb mouth slobbering, drooling mess, which does not a romantic mood create]
but on the upside we are sharing our dinner with wonderful friends, so there will be giggles and champagne and more giggles.
Here are some more gorgeous Love Day inspired goodies that i've discovered during my cyber travels. a groovey little collection if i do say so myself.

Firstly - alittle cupcake action from mycakedecorating.com.au

And A Happy Lurve Day To You...... [ part 1 ]

Well with 8 days until Valentines day my romance levels here at Glitter HQ are reaching feverpitch. Let me just say that apart from Christmas and my Birthday, Lurve Day is my fave time of the year. I adore being able to celebrate Love in all it's forms. Of course, there's romantic lurve with Mr Glitter, puppy love with our furbaby and the love of the sisterhood. The happiness that wonderful friends bring to our lives need to be acknowledged and celebrated. It's a whirlwind of pink tissue paper, spray glue and of course glitter, here at Glitter HQ. Much to the delight of Mr Glitter, but a girl has to make special pressies ready to send out to her specials.

Anyhoo, i do think that Valentines day has become far too comercial. As lovely as a fab pressie is I think doing something thoughtful for your partner is what it's all about. A lovely dinner, a single long stem rose, a juicy rib eye steak, a sensual massage, a little naughty favour, it does however go without saying that i'm not opposed to alittle bling.
So with that in mind, here is a collection of ideas to help your Lurve Day be a special one.

My lovely friend Lisa has a gorgeous online hamper store called Signed Sealed Delivered. I can personal recomend Lisa's delights and her great service. I've included my 2 fave Valentine hampers from her range this year. Firstly , here is ' Love the one your with '. Price $40.00

Here are 2 of my fave pieces that i've yet to add to said collection. Should anyone feel the need to share this information with Mr Glitter, i'd be thankful.

Here is the 'love, wear, enjoy bracelet'. Price $143.00

Cyber Find Friday that has now been renamed Cyber Find Weekly..

Happy Weekend my glittery cyber buddies.

tis that time again, time to share some wonderful cyber finds with you all. i didn't post yesterday as i had a dentist appointment [ pause for appropriate sympathetic comments ] and then we went out to diner with wonderful friends to celebrate a special birthday.
so thats where i'm going to start today....

We were fortunate enough to have been invited to dine at Moretons Brasserie last night. what an experience in epicurean delight.
Moretons is located for those Melbournites at -
- 166 Rathdowne Street Carlton
ph 9349 - 4422.

The Cellar set for 10 guests

The gorgeous dining room offers an intimate, cosy experience. i don't know about you but i love to be able to chat with those i'm dining with and the size of the main dining room makes this possible. there is another, larger dining room upstairs.
crisp white linen tablecloths, silver cutlery, delicate mood lighting and menus written on mirrors covering the walls, all help to create a delightful ambiance that still allows your focus to be the food.
ahhhh the food, the food.
for starters i had -
Salade de Chèvre Chaud
Warm goats cheese salad, croutons and bacon
while Mr Glitter selected
Escargots à la Bourguignonne
Escargot, garlic butter

both of which were drool worthy.

for main i had -
 Cailles Grillée
Grilled quail, sautéed zucchini, pine nuts, sherry soaked raisins and crispy pancetta

Mr Glitter decided on
Wagyu Grillé
Wagyu rump – 450 days grain fed – marble 7+

let me just say i am fairly certain i was pulling my best porn star face. that's how superb our meals were.
and for dessert -
i had from the specials menu a raspberry creme brulee.
yeah, porn star face made another appearence. if i could've i would've licked the pot.

Meet The Moretons Family.
The Rees Walsh family From left; Max Rees, Jenny Walsh, Chris Rees and Geoff Rees
pic from Moretons Brasserie.
from left Max, Jenny, Chris and Geoff.  our extremely talented chef last night was Max.
Jenny as a hostess is beyond reproach. she has a delightful nature and possesses that rare combination of warmth and professionalism. she makes you feel special and instantly you are drawn into her charm and you feel like old friends within 10 minutes.

take your tastebuds out to diner at Moretons, they'll thank you.

click here my peeps and you can download this devine collection of vintage Valentine pics for free.

i printed it off and the quality is quite good. there's is lots of goodies on this blog -http://alteredstuff.blogspot.com.au

rest assured my glittery friends that there will be ample posts about Valentines day.

And now, alittle treat from one of my all time fave blogs -www.larecetadelafelicidad.com/en .

say hello to Steam Cupcakes Apam dot dot.

Magdalenas al vapor (Apam dot dot)
click here to be transported into the magical land of this gorgeous blog.

here is the recipie - both the recipie and the picture are from larecetadelafelicidad.

{Steam cupcakes: Apam Dot Dot}

Preparation time: 15 min
Cooking time: 15 min
Yield: 12 cupcakes

  • 3 eggs
  • 150 g sugar
  • 150 ml milk
  • 300 g flour
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 3 tbs powdered strawberry (Recipe here)
  • 12 tsp your favourite jam (I used cherry jam)

  1. Heat up steamer. In a large bowl, beat eggs and sugar on high speed, until doubled in size, light and fluffy
  2. Add milk, and fold in flour and baking powder, until combined
  3. Divide the batter in two, and colour them as you like (As I wanted to avoid using artificial colouring, I added 3 tbs powdered strawberries
  4. Put the white batter and the pink batter in two piping bags. Put cupcake liners in glass/ foil/silicone moulds or small bowls ( make sure these are heatproof and won’t crack) so that the cupcake liners will not wet when cooked
  5. Press some batter onto the cupcake liners (about 1/3 capacity). Put 1 tsp jam filling, and cover with more batter (until 3/4 capacity). Finally, dot with a different color batter.
  6. Make sure water is boiling, and steam over medium low heat for 10-15 minutes
  7. Let them cool on a wire rack
  • You might use cocoa powder instead of powdered strawberry
  • If you want to store them, the best way is to freeze them
  • If you do not have a steamer, I have read some people prepare them with a frying pan.

- not only is this blog full of magical magical recipies but the photos of those recipies are super pretty.
i haven't tried this one but i have cooked several recipies from this blog and have been very impressed. i thought the idea of steaming cupcakes was an interesting one. i think they would take on a pudding like texture. instantly i thought of my gorgeous Grandma and found myself surounded by the warmth of her kitchen and her hugs. i am so fortunate to have years of wonderfuly happy memories of this incredible woman.

now off you go and enjoy your weekend.
until we next meet in cyberspace
